The Day After The Day After Thanksgiving
So it’s the day after the day after. What did you do on the famed ‘Black Friday’? I didn’t get up at 4am to shop. I didn’t even wait until 8am. I skipped shopping all together. I often do. In fact, it happens every year. I watch commercials all week telling of deep discounts for the earliest arrivals and resist shopping at ridiculous hours. I have amazing self control (and it’s almost always below freezing here the day after Thanksgiving). Instead I didn’t do much all day long. I washed the linens, took online surveys and lurked around MyCokeRewards.com hoping to see a new t-shirt worth spending my points on. The only thing worth ‘buying’ was a year’s subscription to Wired Magazine. I still didn’t spring the hundred points to get it. I downloaded the latest beta of Joost too. I haven’t bothered to look around in some months. CBS has a few popular shows streaming now. NCIS was already a regular at the last beta, yesterday I also saw The Unit and Kid Nation. It’s a promising move to on-demand entertainment that’s been predicted for a while now. There was no shopping excitement but Black Friday wasn’t all that bad either. Maybe I’ll record a YouTube video next year…

I stayed home.
I can’t help my friends who must get up in the middle of the night to serve the shoppers, but I will not add to the problem.
I stayed home as well. My mom works at Kohls and some of the employees had to be there at 3:45 because they OPENED at 4am! That is just nuts!
The earlier open times are bizarre aren’t they? I can’t believe shops were open as early as 4am this year!! I feel for the folks who worked those crazy hours. The shoppers scare me a little. I’m glad there are at least 2 others who stayed home like me.
