Upcoming Changes to TinyMEME
I’ve been quite busy with my day job and home life lately so posts here have been fewer lately. I might as well tell you now what I’m planning for the next couple of months. I say this hoping you’ll keep coming back even if I don’t post again until next week…ok?
First, this little site was started as a kind of experiment in web publishing. My second to be specific (many years ago I ran a mildly unpopular ezine that never really took off). In this site’s beginning I was egar to get the site up and get to the writing. I paid little attention to design. I just wanted a theme that didn’t take too much from the content. I got that. Thanks to Upstart Blogger. That dear theme is worn. This site has grown out of the need to display a few posts on the front page and some links at the sidebar. To meet this need for better organization I’m planning a redesign of the site. Layout, categories and all.
What To Expect During the Redesign
- Categories: During this redesign you can expect some or all of the categories you’re used to seeing disappear or relocated elsewhere. I’ve used my categories as tags and things are getting out of hand around here. Some categories have only one post in them. This is a big hassle when you’re looking for a specific kind of post and find there’s only one in the entire site.
- Generally Wonky Display Issues: I will be upgrading my installation of WordPress around the same time I clean up categories. This upgrade is supposed to painless but it never hurts to be cautious.
- Missing &/or Dead Links: If you see a dead or missing link, wait a bit to see if it goes away. I may be in the middle of moving something around during your visit. If this happens, please accept my apologies.
- Temporarily Missing Advertiser Links: If I’m linking to you now but find that same link is missing on your next visit, please let me know. I may already be in the middle of moving your link(s).
- Post & Page Titles: As you read this post and page titles are wrecked. They take on a previous posts’ title. I’m not sure what’s causing it but I have an idea. This will all go away with the new design so I may or may not fix it until the new look is live. We’ll see.
What to Expect After the Redesign
A perfectly useful site with plenty of content for your consumption. This is what we all expect after a major upgrade/rework.
You should also know that RSS feeds will not be affected by this transformation.
That’s it. If anything more comes up I’ll let you know.
