Picasa Web vs. Flickr
Google versus Yahoo? Which service is best for mom to use? < – That is how this post started originally. This was before the big Yahoo changeover. Flickr had already been aquired by Yahoo but still used the original Flickr user system. Now that the big changeover is complete it’s not really a contest anymore. Yahoo has way too many questions for you just to sign up. They really like to know a lot and it can take a while to get an old, unused account deleted from their system. A Google account is much easier to deal with during registration or deletion. They don’t make you read pages and pages of info just to learn how to cancel an account. Flickr is a great service but I will never use it since you must have a Yahoo account to get started. I vote NOOOO!
As for the mom question… I am pretty sure my mom could work with Picasa right away. She pays attention, she would only need me to show her once or twice. Although, she’s had a Yahoo account for years. I bet she’d go with Flickr since it’s already available to her. So much for that comparison or photo services, it doesn’t actually apply to my mother.
